Description
Our 100% Propylene Glycol Heat Transfer Fluid (HTF) is a high-purity, non-toxic, and biodegradable concentrate designed specifically for secondary refrigeration systems and draft beer chillers. Unlike automotive antifreeze, this Food Grade (USP) formulation is safe for use in environments where accidental contact with beverages could occur. It provides superior frost protection and thermal conductivity while acting as a lubricant for your rotary vane pumps, extending the life of your mechanical infrastructure.
This 100% concentrate offers the highest level of protection against corrosion, scale, and algae growth within your glycol bath. By using a concentrated formula, you have total control over the freeze-point of your system, allowing you to tailor the mixture to the specific length of your trunklines and the ambient temperature of your facility. It is the recommended coolant for all Micro Matic, UBC, and Perlick glycol power packs.
Why Use 100% Concentrate? Many pre-blended solutions are diluted to a 30% or 40% ratio which may not be optimal for long-draw systems exceeding 100 feet. Starting with 100% Propylene Glycol allows you to create the precise 40/60 or 50/50 ratio required to keep your bath from freezing while maintaining the lowest possible viscosity for your pumps. Proper glycol maintenance prevents “pump burn-out” and ensures your beer faucets never pour warm, foamy product.
Standard Mixing Instruction:For most standard 11.5-gallon power packs (like the Micro Matic MMPP4302), use a 40% Glycol to 60% Distilled Water ratio. This typically requires 5 gallons of glycol concentrate mixed with 7 gallons of distilled water.Note: Always use distilled water to prevent mineral scaling and “sludging” within your chiller’s cooling plates.
| Glycol % | Freeze Point | Best For: |
|---|---|---|
| 30% | +10°F (-12°C) | Short-draw / Countertop units |
| 40% | -6°F (-21°C) | Standard Long-Draw (Under 150′) |
| 50% | -33°F (-36°C) | High-Heat / Ultra Long-Draw (250’+) |
