Wort Thief and Test Jar Combo, Graduated Cylinder for Hydrometer Sampling (BSG)

Description

Draw, test, and replace in a single tool. This combination wort thief and graduated test jar lets you pull a hydrometer sample directly from the fermenter and read specific gravity right in the same vessel. No separate cylinder, no pouring back and forth, no extra glassware to sanitize. The molded graduations along the side give clean SG readings from 1.000 through the high end of typical OG ranges.

Brewer’s Tip: Always sanitize the thief immediately before each pull. Yeast cells and bacterial nasties love clinging to plastic grooves. Drop your hydrometer into the filled thief and give it a gentle spin to release any clinging CO₂ bubbles; trapped CO₂ will float the hydrometer artificially high and you’ll under-report your gravity by 2 to 4 points. Take readings at the hydrometer’s calibration temperature (typically 60°F or 15.5°C) or apply the temperature correction. A warm sample reads low.
